One of the many CJSR FunDrive events that is happening between September 26th and October 6th is a prohibition-themed show hosted by CJSR in Bonnie Doon hall on Friday, September the 28th. Doors open at 8 and music starts at 9, a reasonable $15 at the door and an even more reasonable $10 in advance. I type reasonable because the line-up is incredible; you have everyone from Edmonton’s country-punk staples The Uncas to the haunting melodies of Marlaena Moore and so many more, including Scenic Route to Alaska, Joe Nolan, and Jon Irving, to name a few. On top of all of that, proceeds go to the fantastic cause of keeping University of Alberta’s local radio station on the air.
Every year countless people donate their time to CJSR to propagate and share their love of music as well as support local upcoming artists and keep us entertained through a diverse range of radio shows. The least we can do is show them how much we appreciate what they do for us… by going to an awesome show?! And here I thought giving something back was supposed to be a challenge. Dames, put on your slinky dresses and gents, don’t forget your fedoras. It’s bound to be the cat’s pyjamas.
